The Curious Case of Benjamin Button

3 Review

"The Curious Case of Benjamin Button" is a short story written by F. Scott Fitzgerald and first published in Colliers Magazine during 1921. It subsequently was anthologized in his book, Tales of the Jazz Age, which occasionally is published as The Curious Case of Benjamin Button and Other Jazz Age Stories. Development rights to the story were held for years by the late Hollywood mogul, Ray Stark. He retained those rights until his death, when they were purchased from his estate and used for an adaption of the story as the 2008 film of the same name, which was directed by David Fincher.

I've been waiting for a free time to be able to write a review of the movie curious case of Benjamin Button. and now is the time.

For me it is a very touching story. i find some of the parts boring though...this film is quite a long one. it's so long that sometimes you find yourself hard to breath =P

There are so many meaningful quotes, that might help you to go on with our life positively. here's some quotes i get from imdb

Benjamin Button: Your life is defined by its opportunities... even the ones you miss.

Benjamin Button: It's a funny thing about comin' home. Looks the same, smells the same, feels the same. You'll realize what's changed is you.

Benjamin Button: [Voice over; letter to his daughter] For what it's worth: it's never too late or, in my case, too early to be whoever you want to be. There's no time limit, stop whenever you want. You can change or stay the same, there are no rules to this thing. We can make the best or the worst of it. I hope you make the best of it. And I hope you see things that startle you. I hope you feel things you never felt before. I hope you meet people with a different point of view. I hope you live a life you're proud of. If you find that you're not, I hope you have the strength to start all over again.

Mrs. Maple: Benjamin, we're meant to lose the people we love. How else would we know how important they are to us?

Captain Mike: You can be as mad as a mad dog at the way things went. You could swear, curse the fates, but when it comes to the end, you have to let go.

Queenie: You never know what's comin' for ya.

Benjamin Button: Our lives are defined by opportunities, even the ones we miss.

Queenie: Everyone feels different about themselves one way or another, but we all goin' the same way.

Daisy: I promise you, I'll never lose myself to self-pity again.
Benjamin Button: [while the day begins] And I think, right there and then, she realized none of us is perfect forever.

Daisy: We all end up in diapers.

That is it. the quote i find meaningful in the movie.
Benjamin was born in a special occasion. he was born old. and as days/years passes by, he find himself getting younger. different from other people. And that's why i pity him. He thought that he's an old man when he was still a "child". He stays with them, never go out. for what his momma say that outside is dangerous. Who would have know that he became a sailor and go around places??

It is fate. his father abandon him. yet another great momma is there to pick him up. or else he won't even find someone to raise him.

i see much similarity between an old man and a young kid. both old people and young kid needs care. and that's why benjamin leave Daisy- his love one when they got their first child. he think that it could be A burden for daisy to take care of two kids(he's growing younger).

i'd like to take a little time to talk about the make-up and costume. 5 stars. it's excellent. Brad Pitt is playing a role from 10-100 years of age. and the make-up seems real. Hardly even recognize him when he's in a old man look.

i guess there's not much to mention for this movie. If you want to know more you should watch it. it's more like life and love story. which, can make you laugh a little, and cry a little. Appreciate life. you don't know what comes next =)

What Dreams May Come-Film Review

1 Review

What Dreams May Come is a 1998 dramatic film, starring Robin Williams, Cuba Gooding, Jr., and Annabella Sciorra. The movie is based on the 1978 novel by Richard Matheson, and was directed by Vincent Ward. The title is taken from a line in Hamlet's To be, or not to be soliloquy.

Synopsis: Married, Chris and Annie have a wonderful life together. However, tragedy strikes when their son and daughter are killed in a car accident. Blaming herself, Annie goes into a state of mental instability. Four years later, the couple has pulled themselves back together. After being killed in a car accident, Chris Nielsen (Williams) goes to an afterlife derived from his wife's paintings. Despite the paradise he now inhabits he is unhappy without his wife Annie (Sciorra). When Annie commits suicide following Chris' death she forms a reality of hell (due to her guilt of her children and husband's death) as her afterlife. Adamant that they belong together, Chris commences a quest to rescue her, in the process discovering a number of characters from his past.

What Dreams May come is one of the most beautiful film i've seen. From the shots, the story, the
scene, and to the people. everything is so beautiful. some people might find it boring. but if you really get what's the story about you will find it interesting. Annie and Chris(Robin William) live a happy life together. Annie is a cheerful girl who likes to paint. she's an artist. Until she loses both her child who involve in an car crash. she was suppose to drive them to school. Due to her busy schedule she couldn't fit in. So she sent the nanny to send both her childs to school. And all just end like that. she's been thinking that it was her fault that cause all this to happen. and she finally have a mental breakdown. and has been sent to the mental hospital. She wouldn't talk. to anyone. even her husband. Her loving husband support her to the end. make her stand up again. live a happy life again. She's been real unlucky. just when she can start a new life again, her husband Chris died in an car accident. the whole scene made Annie really miserable. Even us, audience, feel extremely sad for her. she's all alone. the world is just so dark for her.

while her husband, went to another world. another world that is so familiar to him. and that's when he know he's living in his' wife's painting. one of their favourite painting.
People might think it doesn't make sense at all. but why not?you live in where you want to live. it might be illusion, but the most important thing is that you're happy with it. that's my thoughts.

^^^those are just part of the story. the rest are best to be seen yourself. i'm sure some of you watch this before. cause it's not a very new movie afterall. We know in reality, we don't go into painting after we're dead. of course, i wish i can. it;s so beautiful that you can't resist.

Chris's quest is not easy. he found his dog, then he needs to find his daughter, his son, and his commit suicide wife. speak of his commited suicide wife. we see a contrast. from a beautiful scene, slowly they move into a dark and spooky scene. what we can see is fire all around the place, and then to a place which is completely dark.

to be honest, i don't like the ending so much. chris lost control of himself when he found annie before the ending. and the ending is like "pop" annie and chris is in the beautiful place again. it's like a rush to end the movie. it's like they don't know how to end the movie. of course they have their own reason. this is only my point of view. maybe when you watch it you'd think the ending is perfect. :)

Red Cliff 2-film Review

2 Review

Red Cliff SYNOPSIS.

With a budget of US$80million, Red Cliff is the most expensive Asian-financed film to date. The movie is based on historical records of "The Chronicles of the Three Kingdom" rather than the novel, "Romance of the Three Kingdom". In the early third century, the land of Wu is invaded by the warlord Cao Cao and his million soldiers. The ruler of Wu, Sun Quan (Chang Chen), calls on the rival warlord Liu Bei (You Yong) for help, but their two armies are still badly outnumbered. However, the strategists Zhou Yu (Tony Leung) and Zhuge Liang (Takeshi Kaneshiro) see that Cao Cao's army is unused to battling on the sea. With 200,000 men, Zhou Yu and Zhuge Liang defeated Cao Cao's army at the Yangtze River.

RED CLIFF2 MOVIE REVIEW
Since i have few hours of time until the discussion of my BIG assignment, i'll post another movie review.

red cliff is claim as biggest budget chinese movie. they have the biggest expenses. for sure the effect and the movie will come out best. i've watch red cliff 1years back. Audience normally get a shock in the end of the movie. cause it is like a "cut" and then "to be continue". so everyone can't wait for red cliff 2.

now that red cliff 2 is out in theatre. and people are saying that red cliff 1 is much more interesting compare to red cliff 2. for me i think that red cliff 2 was better.

First i'll talk about the characters in the movie. Tony Leung, a good actor. Yet, i think that in this movie, he's lacking of something. i couldn't say what is it. just feel like there's an emptyness in it.

Tony Leung as zhou Yu . i rather have takeshi to be zhou yu . in the history, Zhou Yu is a handsome general. Tony leung is a nice looking guy. but i think that takeshi suits the character better. use your imagination.

Tony leung has got a good acting skill. so there's actually not too bad for him to be zhou yu. there's a part where zhou yu showing off his fighting skill in front of Xiao Qiao (chi ling). i've watched many martial art type of film before. And it seems that Tony leung's skill aint that good yet. seems abit heavy to me. and uneasy.

Takeshi plays zhu ge liang well in this movie. he brings out the mysteriousness in him. As what i remember from the chinese history, Zhuge liang indeed is someone smart and mysterious. (correct me if i'm wrong).

nothing much to say about him. it's all clear by his acting. we see zhuge liang in him.

I find some of the story are changed. it's not 100% same with what we've seen in three kingdom's book. perhaps John Woo is taking just part of the story in three kingdom's book. i don't know. i haven't really read the whole book. just a briefing.

They won't be able to put the whole story into this movie anyway. if you want the whole story you will have to find a chinese drama series to understand the whole story. it's very complicated.

The Professional movie critics might find the transition (paper tear style) to be unique, or perhaps interesting. but for me it seems more like a joke. to be honest many people are laughing with the TEAR when i was watching in the cinema. it seems funny to me too. i'd rather see a normal kind of transition. maybe a dip to white?blur effect?i don't know.

i would say the best part of this movie is the battle scene. i don't think there's anyone who doesn't like those scene. Every single battle scene looks so real to me.

and it actually brought me into the movie. like i'm the one killing[heart attack].

Some of the computer effect(which i can see) looks so real to me. and the fire. i don't know whether they're using effects or really burn up a house. cause they look real to me.

i like it when they put Xiao Qiao to leave the base to find cao cao. a weak and pregnant lady like her. going into the "tiger's mouth" like this. create some kind of worriness in me. i was afraid she'd be a burden to Zhou Yu. what if something happen to her?i'm sure everyone think that way =p

The flow of the movie is there. i can picture a chart in my mind. seeing a success in the movie. it was indeed a succesful film to bring out the story of three kingdom in just 2 "episode".

that's my idea of looking into this film. Feel free to post your review of this film. you're always welcome =)

GIA - Film Review

GIA - Film Review

Recently i watched few great movie. One of my favourite-GIA, starring Angelina Jolie as Gia Marie Carangi.

Part of it are facts. before making this movie they did alot of research. somehow people (which include Gia Carangi's mom) thinks that it's not accurate at all.

Back to the movie..i think angelina jolie bring out the character really well. it's the first time i see angelina jolie without a gun, without a strong self-confidence character. in this movie, she looks strong, afraid of nothing, inside her soul, what she see is just darknest, with a broken family that weakened her.

this movie shows us the reality of the modelling industry. you come when you're needed. and leave the industry when you're not. this is business. what a famous cover girl looks like...might not be what it seems to be..People see them as angels, luckiest girl in the world, glamour, fame, they can have anything in their life..but who knows what they really are??
